Off Season workouts

Mason Wrestlers are encouraged to take advantage of the off season workout schedule outlined here. Even if you participate in a Fall sport at GM you will greatly enhance your prospects for wrestling success by attending as many of these sessions as possible.

Mondays until November 10:     6:30-8:30 pm wrestling at McLean HS

Tuesdays during June, July , and most of August:    4-6 pm Strength, conditioning, agility workouts conducted by Coach P.

Wednesdays until November 12:    6:30-8:30 pm wrestling at McLean HS

Fridays during June, July, and most of August:   4-6 pm Strength, conditioning, agility workouts conducted by Coach P.

Making time to practice what you learned in the Granby camp is vital to retaining the information you received. You can not do nothing between now and November and expect positive results.

The strength and conditioning sessions are expressly designed for wrestlers and other combat sport participants. Champ Training is not enough! These workouts will produce results that regular weight lifting can't!

Camp @ GMHS!

Volleyball Camp Grades 8-12

Who: Anyone Interested in Volleyball at GMHS. Attendees do not have to be current players but must be eligible to play on the team.

What: Four day Volleyball Skills Camp (five hours each day)

Where: Here at MASON!

When: August 3rd-6th (Monday-Thursday)

Why: Campers will find or hone volleyball skills for the’09-’10 season.  Beginners and experiences volleyball players are welcome to join!

Cost: $150 per camper. Lunch not included. Camp money and registration forms are due on May 29th (Friday) See Coach Rizzi (trailer #3) to turn in forms and money. Checks should be made out to: George Mason High School

We are lucky that this camp will be coached by Jeanne Colpus who is the president of Matchpoint.  She was featured on MTV’s “MADE”, and she is a certified coach and instructor.  She has contributed to valuable articles on performance and conditioning in a variety of Volleyball Magazines. To find more information on the camp or Jeanne Colpus visit: www.matchpointvolleyball.net

Additional Info:

Tryouts are August 7th, 8th  and 10th (Friday, Saturday, and Monday)

Those interested in playing on the team are required to attend MANDATORY tryouts.

For team members: practices will begin Tuesday, August 11th

We hope that returning players will come to camp here at Mason.  Camp will certainly help all players tighten up skills before tryouts. Tryouts will be only two days this year, requiring all athletes to be in great shape and ready to go. Athletes are expected to attend both days of tryouts.  Appointments, vacations, and/or work schedules will not be considered “excused”. Please be sure that physicals are scheduled during the summer break rather than during camp or tryouts. The lack of a physical is an unexcused absence.

While this camp is going to be GREAT for our program (and athletes), there are many other camps you might also want to attend. I strongly encourage you to attend our camp and then see about the other camps. Here is a list of websites that should help in finding a camp:

www.hoyavolleyballcamp.com  (Georgetown University)

 http://gomason.cstv.com/camps/gema-camps.html (George Mason University)

 http://www.marymount.edu/athletics/volleyball/2009%20MS%20camp%20form.pdf (Marymount University)

http://www.coachhouser.com/SummerCamps.html (List of camps available in VA)

 http://www.goodcounselvolleyball.com/camp.htm (Olney, MD)

 http://www.navysports.com/camps/navy-camps.html#a18 (Navy Volleyball Camp)

 http://www.virginiavolleyballcamps.com/camps.html (UVA)

http://www.hokievolleyball.com/camps.php Last year, athletes attended the VA Tech camp and there were some mixed reviews. There are two camps offered at Tech and suggest attending the NIKE camp over the skills camp.  Nike camps tend to be more consistent in what they offer.

To the rising 8th graders, we also suggest checking out camps at local high schools:
